Program Manager, Work Based Learning

Basic Functions

 

  • Spearhead initiatives to expand work-based learning and apprenticeship programs
  • Serve as a content expert; provide technical assistance and guidance on programs
  • Provide oversight and project management for work-based learning initiatives

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as a subject matter expert, leverage knowledge of workforce development strategies to inform, design, and implement programming
  • Contribute to content development for materials highlighting best practices and innovation
  • Lead efforts to continuously improve program effectiveness by staying informed about relevant trends, best practices, and innovations and integrating relevant insights into program design and delivery
  • Provide program management for work-based learning and related programs
  • Manage project timelines, prepare and manage contracts, subcontracts, and other requirements for multiple programs concurrently
  • Provide technical assistance and support
  • Ensure ongoing monitoring and reporting on federal and foundation grants
  • Foster strong collaboration and effective communication with partner organizations
  • Coordinate the content development, organize logistics, and conduct external presentations
  • Design sub-award agreements, monitor performance, and document major deliverables
  • Plan and facilitate partner meetings and participants sessions 
  • Collaborate with the Director of Programs and Initiatives on program oversight
  • Work with strategic partners to refine key performance indicators and identify sources and data collection methods for both qualitative and quantitative measures
  • Monitor project budgets
  • Coordinate technical assistance efforts within the program team for multiple projects
  • Serve as a representative of NAWB with members and external stakeholders

 

Requirements and Skills

 

  • A proven track record of 5-7 years in program management or grants and contracts administration
  • Experience with providing technical assistance and coaching, stakeholder engagement, and/or project tracking and reporting
  • Knowledge of work-based learning models, including career pathways and the development and implementation of apprenticeship programs
  • Preferred knowledge of workforce development boards, their structure, and community impact
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Must be highly motivated and team-oriented
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to travel

 

Compensation

 

Salary range is $72,000 - $82,000 and is commensurate with experience. The package includes full benefits, such as healthcare, disability, dental, vision, and a 401(k).

This position is grant funded. Its continuance is dependent on funding availability after current grant expiration.

Program Specialist

Basic Functions 

 

  • Provide project management to high-priority initiatives across multiple programs 
  • Collaborate with staff to assess and enhance work operations, procedures, and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness 
  • Assist program managers in developing budgets, schedules, and strategies to ensure successful project outcomes 

 

Responsibilities 

 

  • Provide project management and support for programs and initiatives 
  • Assist Program and Initiatives Team in developing project timelines, contracts, subcontracts, and other requirements for multiple programs concurrently 
  • Collaborate with Program Managers to develop budgets and schedules 
  • Analyze programs and procedures, and make recommendations to optimize them, including drafting new or revised policies and procedures 
  • Organize logistics for internal and external meetings 
  • Assist with coordination and development of content 
  • Support the development of resources and tools; prepare drafts as needed   
  • Organize and prepare materials for meetings, training sessions, and conferences 
  • Support ongoing monitoring and reporting on federal and foundation grants 
  • Assist in monitoring performance, reporting, and tracking to monitor progress towards program initiatives and major deliverables under grants 
  • Contribute to the development of reports and documents for internal staff, funders, and external partners 
  • Provide technical assistance and support for implementing performance management tools to achieve initiative goals 
  • Support relationship building and stakeholder engagement with program partners and NAWB Members 
  • Communicate program objectives, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders through various channels 
  • Respond to inquiries about programs and initiatives 

 

Requirements and Skills 

 

  • Minimum of 3 years of grants management or project management experience 
  • Workforce/economic development/education experience preferred 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills 
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet strict deadlines 
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Must be highly motivated and team-oriented 
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
