In June 2017, CEO Ron Painter testified before the U.S. House Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Development regarding the progress made in implementing the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. He shared select examples of workforce successes that have helped job seekers get back to work and American businesses find talented workers.
The subcommittee's goal in the hearing was to understand how WIOA implementation is progressing, and whether the changes set forth in WIOA are having intended impacts.
In his opening statement, Subcommittee Chair Brett Guthrie said, "...now more than ever, it is important we deliver on implementation, ensuring that American workers are being given the skills they need to thrive in the twenty-first century economy."
During his testimony, Ron said, "We urge the 115th Congress to renew its commitment to maintaining a world-class skilled workforce... by maintaining funding levels for WIOA programs in FY18."
